IF YOU ARE LIKE MOST PEOPLE, YOU HAVE SET UP NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS. FACT: 90%+ OF THEM WILL NOT MAKE THE END OF JANUARY. WHY? LET ME EXPLAIN
Everyone has good intentions for making this year better than last year. While some make progress, most of you will not get much further than you are at this very moment. This is because New Years resolutions don’t work.
Do you know what? It’s not your fault. When you play the game of life, it helps to know the rules. Do you know what they are? Here are 5 Things to Know About Success
1. MINDSET
Everything you are doing is fine. REALLY. But it’s not what you do but how you think that gets results. Ralph Waldo Emerson said “The ancestor of every action is a thought“. Emerson was right. You have to think about something before you can have it. Additionally, you need to think about the right things – Intention
2. INTENTION
The key to intention is combining the emotion of an action to that action. It is no good to run on autopilot all the time. Presence of mind is vital. Without that presence of mind, the magic in the action is not there. When you are present, your state determines the outcome just as much as the action. So you need to keep your focus on your actions
3. FOCUS
Focus is consistently directed thought. It is free from distractions. It is directed at solutions rather than problems. It is important to maintain this focus at all time. It’s like a magnifying glass in the sun. A tightly focused mind, just like the magnifying glass, provides the power to accelerate a result. If you are outside, the sun may burn but focused sunlight will burn straight away.
4. ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountability is using the power of focus of 2 or more minds on a specific outcome. If you were to have an accountability partner, you are more likely to get a result. This is because we seem to hold ourselves more accountable when we have made the goal public. Get a partner who knows you well and is willing to help you, help yourself. You can do the same for them.
5. MOMENTUM
Momentum is the piece that brings this together. You need to create the “snowball effect” of your actions. It is much easier to maintain momentum in a group. This is because when you are “down” someone else will be “up”. This will make sure that, on average, the group is able maintain the “up” for longer. If you start today, you must maintain the momentum for as long as possible. If you feel you are flagging, ask your accountability partner for support/ideas/motivation.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Take this opportunity seriously. If you do everything above, success is inevitable. Print this post up and read it every day. Find an accountability partner and I promise you, you will have more success this month than your entire last year. Over to you.
