Esther Hicks, in the original version of The Secret, wrote a book with her husband Jerry, Ask and It Is Given, and they state:
“Within 17 seconds of focusing on something, a matching vibration becomes activated. And now, as that focus becomes stronger and the vibration becomes clearer, the Law of Attraction will bring to you more thoughts that match. At this point, the vibration will not have much attraction power, but if you maintain your focus longer, the power of the vibration will become further-reaching. And if you manage to stay purely focused upon any thought for as little as 68 seconds, the vibration is powerful enough that its manifestation begins.”
The power of 68 seconds is quite grand. According to the Abraham-Hicks channeling:
17 seconds = 2,000 hours of action taken
34 seconds = 20,000 hours of action taken
51 seconds = 200,000 hours of action taken
68 seconds = 2,000,000 hours of action taken
Then Abraham-Hicks also states:
“Who would want to bang things into place, when they know that they can spend 68 seconds and have the universe do it for them? Nobody, yet it is what the majority of you do. You would rather jump into action than do your 68 seconds. You would rather jump into action than align up your energy.”
I would recommend visualizing at least daily, and when ever you have a spare minute-and-a-half to mentally live your dream. Your goal is to keep your focus on “living in your mind” what you want for 68 seconds or greater without interruption. If you cannot keep your focus that long to begin, that’s alright, do not give up. Like a muscle, your mind will grow stronger with more exercising.
What is meant by thinking?
Thinking is clear, decisive, calm, deliberate and consistent thought with a definite end in your mind. Most of the time thinking is a creative process where you create what you so desire.
What is knowledge?
Knowledge is the result of the ability to think. It is the answer to what you were thinking about. What you know, and the knowledge you have, may and most likely will change over the course of life’s experiences. As your knowledge grows, so does your ability to think greater thoughts.
What are mistakes?
Mistakes are actually successes! They are the product of strategies which do not meet your expected outcome – which shows you that the strategy you used is not a way to achieve what you want, and that is a successful discovery!!! Mistakes are what allowed us to have electricity, airplanes, automobiles, computers, etc… The greatest successes are built upon the greatest mistakes – feel proud of your successful mistakes, for you will learn a lot in the process, you will grow your knowledge and understanding, and through continuous action you will achieve the result you are looking for.
How can I choose my thoughts?
You can choose your thoughts by keeping your focus on what you want. There are many ways to do this. One is by using pictures of what you want. Another way is to use an object as a reminder. Another is to have people remind you to keep your focus. There are many ways to keep your focus on something and provoke you to thinking certain thoughts.
Can other people “pick up” on my thoughts?
Some people say yes, some say no. I’m not sure if people can pick up on your thoughts, but they can pick up on your unconscious actions, expressions and posture. We are good at instinctively picking up on the unconscious behaviors and reacting to them accordingly. So, in essence, we can pick up on thoughts, for our thoughts dictate our actions.
How do thoughts become things?
Thoughts become things through our actions. Our actions are determined by the way we think, and the thoughts we entertain, and our actions, in turn, will produce an effect in the environment around us. Our environment tends to respond by reacting to our actions which can produce things such as possessions, money, words, or other actions and objects.
